Lady Lancers Present Coach N With 600th Coaching Victory

On Tuesday, December 21st Sunny Hills traveled to Redlands to take on the Redlands High School Terriers.  Sunny Hills won the game and in doing so handed long time Lancer Coach Keith Nighswonger his 600th career victory.  Nighswonger has been coaching varsity water polo since 1983 when he took the head coaching position at Workman High School in the City of Industry.  Two years later Nighswonger moved to take the Head Coaching position at Montebello High School, his alma mater.  In 1989, Nighswonger took over the powerful Sunny Hills High School program.  During his 28 years of coaching Boys water polo, Nighswonger has accumulated 385 wins.

In 2000, the Freeway League added Girls Water Polo.  Nighswonger was named Girls Coach and in 11 seasons has led Sunny Hills to 215 victories......and counting.

"I love Sunny Hills.  We have such a unique population of students, staff and administrators.  A milestone like this is nice I suppose, it means you've done something a very long time.  What I am reminded of in those 600 victories is not so much the wins as the families and players that have been such a big part of it.  I have truly been blessed with the opportunity to coach great people.  I enjoy coaching now has much as I ever have and I hope WE can get 600 more!" -Coach N
